House Resolution 31
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE WINSTON ACADEMY BASKETBALL TEAMS FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 1998-1999 SEASONS.
WHEREAS, the Winston Academy Patriots and Lady Patriots Basketball Teams have finished the 1998-1999 season with remarkable records; and
WHEREAS, the Winston Academy High School Patriots were runner-up in the South State 2A Tournament and the Winston Academy High School Lady Patriots were runner-up in the State 2A Tournament; and
WHEREAS, the Winston Academy Junior High Patriots Team, averaging almost 64 points a game, finished the season with a perfect record of 15 wins and no losses, winning the District Championship; and
WHEREAS, individual honors have been bestowed upon these fine and dedicated players, including the selection of Leah Fulcher as the Conference Most Valuable Player and to the MPSA All-Star Team and the selection of Brant Peterson to the MPSA All-Star Team; and
WHEREAS, the Patriots and Lady Patriots have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coaches Paul Anderson and Ferrell Rigby, who have broadened the players knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, the Patriots and Lady Patriots have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Winston Academy; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Winston Academy Basketball Teams and Head Coaches Paul Anderson and Ferrell Rigby for their outstanding 1998-1999 seasons and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Winston Academy, Head Coaches Paul Anderson and Ferrell Rigby and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
